Une nouvelle bicyclette! / Emilia's new bike!

Emilia a passée la semaine avec ses grandparents et ils lui ont donné une belle bicyclette, sa première bicyclette avec des petites roues de support. Quand je suis passé la prendre en fin de semaine, elle était contente de me montrer ce qu'elle savait faire.

Emilia spent the week with her grandparents and she got a new bike. Her first bicycle with training wheels! When I went to pick her up
during the weekend, she was really happy to show me her stuff.

Jeune cuisinière / Young cook

L'activité préféré d'Emilia avec sa mère : la cuisson. Samedi, c'était le pain au bananes et dimance, la compote de pomme.

Emilia's favorite activity with her mother is baking. Saturday, they made banana bread and Sunday, it was apple sauce.

Des nouveaux amis / New friends

Andréanne a demeuré à Calgary pendant un peu plus d'un an, il y a douze ans de cela. Les Reimers, ce sont des amis de la famille. Ils ont été très gentils et ils nous ont bien accueillis chez eux. Samedi soir, ils ont organisé un souper avec leurs enfants et Andréanne a eu la chance de revoir sa bonne amie JoDee. On a beaucoup parlé cette soirée là et c'était très naturel; encore une fois, des rencontres superbes!

Voici donc la fin de mon court résumé. Qu'est ce que je retiens du voyage : qu'il y a des personnes vraiment sympathiques dans l'Ouest Canadien et que j'aimerais bien les revisiter un jour!

Twelve years ago, Andréanne lived in Calgary for a little over a year. The Reimers are family friends and they welcomed us into their home. Saturday evening, they organized a supper with their children and Andréanne got to see her good friend JoDee once again. We chatted till late in the evening with them and it was very natural; once again, great people to meet.

So, that's a quick wrap-up of our trip. What will I be remembering the most: that there are some great people out West and that I'd love to return and visit them some day!

Gondole Banff Gondola

Samedi, on a visité Banff. C'est très beau, sauf qu'il pleuvait et c'était très ennuagé alors on n'a pas vu grand chose des montagnes.

Saturday, we visited Banff. It was very nice, except it was raining so we didn't see much of the montains.

Tournage / On set

Vendredi, c'était la journée de tournage de l'émission de télévision. Andréanne était vraiment à l'aise devant la caméra et je crois qu'elle a été phénoménale! C'était intéressant de voir l'intérieur d'un plateau de tournage. La caméraman m'a même laissé essayé la caméra un peu. Après l'émission, on a jasé avec quelques personnes de la station et on s'est fait des nouveaux amis : Gaetan, un Québecois qui n'est qu'à Lethbridge depuis l'automne dernier; Kelsey et Tina, un couple super sympathique avec qui on s'est bien adonné.

On Friday, Andréanne taped the television show. She was really comfortable in front of the camera and I think she did a fantastic job! It was really interesting for me to see the inside of a television studio. The cameraman even let me try out the camera. After the taping, we chatted with some people from the station and we made some new friends. Gaetan is a Quebecer whose only been in Lethbridge since last fall. Kelsey and Tina are a really nice couple with whom we got along great!

Road trip

On est arrivé à Calgary jeudi vers midi, on a ramassé notre voiture loué et on a conduit jusqu'à Lethbridge tout de suite. Lethbridge est à environ 200KM de Calgary et Andréanne avait pris rendez-vous chez la coiffeuse pour 15h00.

We arrived in Calgary Thursday around noon, we picked up our rental and then drove straight to Lethbridge. Lethbridge is about 200KM away and Andréanne had booked an appointment with the hair dresser for 3PM.

Lethbridge est une petite ville et il faisait chaud alors c'était plaisant. Je me suis promené pendant qu'Andréanne était chez la coiffeuse, à la recherche d'un terrain de golf pour frapper des balles, mais pas de chance, je n'ai pas réussi à en trouver.

(L') Halloween

Saviez-vous qu'Emilia s'est déguisé en tortue Benjamin pour l'Halloween? C'était son premier Halloween où elle s'est déguisé. Je suis pas mal fier, j'ai tout fait le costume moi-même. Emilia est venu avec moi au Wal-Mart pour choisir le matériel pour la carapace, ce qu'elle a beaucoup apprécié. L'année prochaine, elle veut être un lion! Va falloir que je me prenne d'avance si je veux le faire...

Did you know that Emilia dressed up as the turtle Franklin for Halloween? This was the first Halloween where she got dressed up. I'm pretty proud of the fact that I made her costume myself. Emilia came with me to Wal-Mart to pick out the material and she really enjoyed that. Next year, she wants to be a lion! I'll have to start much more in advance if I want to do it myself again...

Chandails pareils / Matching sweaters

Andréanne est allé à Calgary en octobre et elle a ramené comme souvenir des chandails de Banff. Emilia était content d'avoir un chandail pareil comme sa mère.

Andréanne went to Calgary and brought back some matching sweaters. Emilia was happy to have a sweater just like her mom.

Pensées d'une fillette de 3 ans / Real Quotes from a 3-year-old

On est revenu de quelques jours à Dolbeau où on a visité mes beau-parents pendant Noël. Après notre retour, pendant le déjeuner :

Émilia : Je veux voir grand-maman.
Andréanne : Tu t'es amusé chez grand-maman?
Émilia : Oui. (avec plus d'insistance) Je veux voir grand-maman.
Andréanne : Mais on ne peux pas retourner la voir, c'est très loin et il y trop de neige. Peut-être cet été, on va retourner.
Émilia : J'ai une pelle, moi. Je peux aller dehors et enlever la neige.

We spent a few days at my in-laws during Christmas. When we came back, during breakfast:

Emilia: I want to go see Grandma.
Andy: You had fun at Grandma's?
Emilia: Yes. (with more insistance) I want to go see Grandma.
Andy: But we can't go back now, it's very far and there's too much snow. Perhaps in the summer, we'll go back to see her.
Emilia: I have a shovel. I can go outside and move away the snow.
